One Word: Lonely

Johnny layed on the grass, curled up, shivering madly.
New paper layed under him and wrapped around him as a source for a blanket. It was the middle of fall, the wind was beyond freezing.
Johnny gripped his hands together, holding them close to himself as he closed his eyes, trying to grasp onto some sleep. But sleep would have to take a while before he could get it.
The wind grew colder by the second, stopping at a wind that would come juring a winterstorm.
Johnny's lips and fingertips were blueish purple, his legs felt like heavy ice blocks. He was just so cold but he didn't care, he didn't mind the cold at all.
Soon sleep took over, he nocked right out cold.
One word he could think of how he felt that cold night, was lonely.

Ponyboy sat at home, eating chocolate cake when Sodapop asked him. "Where's Johnnycake at?" Ponyboy looked at his brother and shrugged. Darry came out of the kitchen. "Maybe ya oughta go and fetch 'im. Hes probably in the vacant lot, and he'lla die of cold out there tonight." Ponyboy swallowed his last piece of chocolate cake, nodded and headed out to find Johnny. It didn't take Pony very long to find Johnny, in the vacant lot, bundled in newspaper. "Johnnycake?" Ponyboy asked as he gently shook Johnny to wake him.

Johnny jumped up, a paniced look on his face. When he realised who it was, he relaxed at bit but his dark black eyes wondered around them in alarm, just in case the socs were trying to sneek up on them. "Pony...why're you here in this time of night?" He yawned though his body trembled and shivered in the cold wind.

Ponyboy looked around (as if shy) "Darry wanted ya to come inside, he said ya'll get frozen at this tempature." Ponyboy said as he reached for Johnny's hand. "Come on ya'll get me introuble with Darry if ya stay out here."

Johnny nodded, as he took Ponyboy's hand, pulling him up as he stood up. "Alright Ponyboy, let's get a move on..." He said threw chattering teeth, he was beyond freezing.

Ponyboy almost smiled as Johnny stood up. "You look like a peach popsicle and you're as stiff as one too." Ponyboy said as he helped Johnny out of the lot to his house.

Johnny chuckled softly, it sounded quiet nice to hear him laugh since it rarly ever happened. "I ain't no peach popscile, I more milk chocolate or somethin...." He said with his quiet voice, a grin on his tan skinned face.

Ponyboy laughed with Johnny. "Your right, yur no peach popsicle, probably chocolate." Ponyboy said as he helped Johnny inot the house, where Darry was ready to fuss over Johnny.

Once Johnny notcied the firm look on Darry's face, the grin on his face disappeared and was replaced with a fear filled and soft sad look on his face. He was hopping Darry wouldn't lecture him or yell at him like his parents did at his house. He swallowed hard, letting go of Ponyboy as he stood infront of Darry.

Darry laughed at the look on Johnny's face. "Did you think I was going to yell at ya, boy?" Darry asked as he practically fell on Sodapop laughing. "No no I just don't ya to freeze and die out in the cold. That's all." Darry said. Ponyboy burst out laughing too.

Johnny's eyes widended, his face turned a deep shade of red but thank god for being dark skinned, it didn't show that much. He tryed to laugh about it to but it seemed he was way to embarassed to even try. He looked away from everyone. "Y-Yeah..." He mumbled quietly.

Two-Bit stalked up behind Johnny and slapped his baqck gently and yelled "Gottcha Greaser." Before Ponyboy or Sodapop could say anything.

Johnny jumped, his sholders locking. His eyes were just so wide. He closed his eyes and tryed to calm his rapid heart beat down and quick breathing, he knew who it was right away. "H-Hey...Two-Bitt...." He whispered quietly.

Dallas rolled his eyes, standing in the door way of the kitchen. "Ey Two-Bitt lay off him, ya scarin the poor kid...jeez." He shook his head in disbelief, he found it annoying how Two-Bitt always "forgot" that he wasn't suppost scare Johnny.

Two-Bit was laughing his ass off. "Oh Dally, you lay off Johnny's not gonna die from bein aware, now are ya buddie?" Two-Bit asked as he pulled Johnny to him by his shoulder.

Johnny stumbled a bit, he didn't exspect Two-Bitt to pull him over. He regained his balance and let Two-Bitt do whatever.

Dallas frowned, making a "hmp" noice, followed by a "wise ass..." Mumble/comment as he disappeared into the kitchen.

Two-Bit laughed "Sorry if I scared ya Johnny-cake." He said still laughing at Dally.

Johnny took a quivering deep breath, looking down. His hands were tucked into his pockets as his sholders were locked tight. He was still a little scared but was also calming down from all the fright. "Nah...i-it's just fine Two-Bitt...." He said with his quiet soft voice as he managed a small grin on his tan skinned face.

"And kid?" Two-Bit looked at Johnny. "Sorry if I scared you real bad, I was just bein' funny. .. Not harm done?" He reached out to shake Johnny's hand.

Johnny couldn't help but grin, he took his hand and shook it a bit. "Yeah... no harm done Two-bitt..." He said with his normal quiet voice.

Two-Bit just laughed. He could always find something to make Dallas angry.

Johnny glanced at his watch, while no one was looking, he slipped away out the door and headed towards his house.
